US law firm McGuireWoods is expanding its private equity practice with the addition in its Chicago office of three new partners, Geoffrey C. Cockrell, Mark A. Kromkowski and Michael P. Lusk, recruited from local law firm Wildman Harrold.
‘McGuireWoods’ private equity practice is an area in which we are focused on continued growth, and Geoff, Mark and Mike bring strengths that our clients will value,’ says Richard Greenberg, managing partner of the Chicago office. ‘They have extensive experience representing venture capital, mezzanine and private equity funds across the nation.’
In their private equity practices, the firm says, Cockrell, Kromkowski and Lusk have represented investment funds and portfolio companies in all types of private equity transactions from venture and mezzanine investments to control and buyout transactions.
Their private equity practice also includes extensive experience in advising managers in all aspects of fund formation. Cockrell and Kromkowski are also among the few US lawyers with significant transactional and regulatory experience with small business investment companies.
‘By adding the depth of experience that these three partners bring to our private equity practice, coupled with our transactional practice, we believe that we will better serve the increasingly important private equity community,’ Greenberg says.
Cockrell, Kromkowski and Lusk have also developed substantial practices in the areas of complex financings, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate representation for private and public companies, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to early-stage and emerging growth companies.
McGuireWoods is a full-service law firm with some 900 lawyers in 17 offices in the US, Europe and Central Asia.
