TPG has named Axel André as its new Chief Financial Officer, with the appointment effective 27 July 2026, as the global alternative asset manager continues to expand its platform and deepen its focus on private wealth.
André will join TPG as a Partner, succeeding Jack Weingart, who will move full-time into his role as CEO of the firm’s Global Wealth Solutions business. The internal reshuffle reflects TPG’s growing emphasis on its wealth and evergreen investment strategies, which have become an increasingly important source of capital for the firm.
The incoming CFO joins from Reinsurance Group of America, where he served as executive vice president and CFO. He brings extensive experience across insurance and asset management, having previously held senior finance roles at American Equity Investment Life, Jackson National, and AIG, and earlier in his career worked at Goldman Sachs in investment management.
TPG said the appointment comes as the firm enters a phase of “significant momentum” following its expansion into a diversified, multi-strategy alternative asset platform spanning private equity, credit, real estate and impact investing. Management highlighted André’s background in financial strategy and risk oversight as aligned with the firm’s growth ambitions.
Weingart’s transition underscores the strategic priority TPG is placing on its Global Wealth Solutions division, which includes its evergreen private equity offering and other products aimed at high-net-worth and individual investors. The business has grown rapidly since inception and is seen internally as a key driver of future fundraising.
The leadership change comes as TPG continues to scale its platform globally, leveraging its expanding product suite to capture demand from both institutional and private wealth channels.
