Troutman Pepper adds Partner in PE and Funds practice

Troutman Pepper has rehired seasoned private funds and private equity lawyer Benjamin Mittman as a Partner in its Private Equity and Investment Funds practice, as it looks to bolster its legal advisory capabilities for fund sponsors and asset managers, according to a report by Private Funds CFO.

Based in Philadelphia, Mittman brings more than 30 years of experience advising clients across the private markets spectrum — including private equity, growth capital, venture, infrastructure, real estate, private debt, RMBS, and consumer health.

He rejoins Troutman Pepper from Dentons, where he served as Co-Lead of the Private Funds Group. Prior to that, he was Legal Head of Fund Formation at global private markets investor Hamilton Lane and previously spent seven years at Pepper Hamilton (a predecessor to Troutman Pepper) as Special Counsel, advising sponsors and managers on complex private investment structures.

Mittman advises global asset managers, fund sponsors, and institutional investors on the structuring and formation of private investment vehicles, including GP and management company structures, special limited partnerships, and onshore/offshore pooled investment funds.
