The Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois (TRS) has approved $65m in new commitments to private equity and $300m to private credit strategies during its October board meeting.
As part of its $13.3bn Private Equity Portfolio, TRS committed $65m to NGP Royalty Partners III, adding to its existing $135.5, allocation to NGP vehicles. The pension system also made private credit allocations of $100m to CapitalSpring Investment Partners VII, and $200m to LCM Partners COPS V (USD), as part of its allocated $100m to private credit funds Meanwhile, in its $19.8 billion Income Portfolio, building on prior allocations of $68.1m and $238.8m, respectively.
TRS, the 38th largest pension system in the US, serves over 456,000 teachers and public-school personnel outside Chicago and had $79 billion in assets as of 31 August, 2025.
