Truffle Private Markets launches US mid-market PE programme

Truffle Private Markets Group (TPMG), a provider of private markets solutions and partner to wealth managers and family offices across Europe, has launched the US Mid-Market Private Equity Programme (TPM US Midmarket Programme) which has already closed 75% of its target size in 3 months.

The Programme is a fund, launched by Truffle Investment Management (part of TPMG), that provides European wealth managers and family offices with exposure to a group of leading US mid-market private equity GPs. The first four underlying fund commitments have already closed, including investments in several access constrained managers. Truffle expects to add at least one additional manager, with the portfolio expected to be fully committed shortly after the Program’s final close.
 
European private wealth investors have typically been unable to commit capital to most US mid-market private equity funds due to a combination of scale and regulatory restrictions. Even in situations where investing is possible, wealth managers and family offices also face the additional challenges of manager identification and selection, as well as gaining access to GPs with strong track records.
 
Truffle’s US Mid-Market Programme seeks to overcome these challenges by leveraging the firm’s manager selection process, which includes access to a market leading research database and analytical tools to screen a full universe of private markets funds and assess track records. From this universe, Truffle selects a small number of funds managed by proven and established private equity firms with strong track records. The program is diversified across sectors with a focus on industrials, technology and business services.
 
When selecting managers to allocate to, Truffle will focus on GPs with a definable edge or specialty, such as industry or business model expertise, or a hard-to-replicate investment style of strategy. Truffle is able to leverage the collective scale of its clients to build relationships with target managers and obtain allocations to underlying funds which are often access constrained and only open for a few new Limited Partners per fund.
