Vanguard has closed the Vanguard HarbourVest 2020 Private Equity Fund, marking the firm’s one-year anniversary of entering the private equity market in partnership with HarbourVest last year.
The fund closed at nearly double its target size, securing commitments from a broad base of qualified investors. The firm also announced the launch of its next annual vintage of the private equity offer to qualified investors.
“The strong investor demand we saw for private equity in our first year further solidifies our belief that private equity can improve investor outcomes,” says Fran Kinniry, Head of Private Investments at Vanguard. “We look forward to building off this great momentum and continuing to provide qualified investors with access to one of the industry’s premier private equity managers and a broadly-diversified global private equity portfolio to help them reach their long-term financial goals.”
According to a new Vanguard report, the expansion of the private equity market over the past two decades, coupled with its potential to enhance long-term portfolio returns, has led to increased demand in the asset class worldwide. Vanguard findings suggest that investors who can access high-quality, broadly diversified programs with top private equity managers have accrued significant financial benefits over long time horizons. As such, Vanguard continues to see an enduring investment case in private equity.
