Vista Equity mulls $1bn-plus AlertMedia sale

Software-focussed private investment firm Vista Equity Partners is exploring a sale of its emergency communications software portfolio company, AlertMedia, with sources indicating a potential valuation exceeding $1bn, according to a report by Reuters.

Vista has engaged JPMorgan to run the process, which is understood to be in its early stages. No formal terms have been disclosed, and Vista, JPMorgan, and AlertMedia have reportedly declined to comment.

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, AlertMedia provides emergency communication solutions to thousands of organisations, including Walmart, JetBlue, and Coca-Cola Bottling, generating over $100 million in annual revenue. Market observers suggest the company could command a double-digit revenue multiple, in line with comparable deals, such as Thoma Bravo’s $1.8bn acquisition of emergency communications peer Everbridge in 2024.

Vista initially invested in AlertMedia in 2021 via its middle-market-focused Foundation Fund, continuing its focus on enterprise software, though the firm has recently expanded into AI and other tech sectors, including a $350m funding round in chip startup SambaNova Systems.
