Weaver opens LA area office

Independent accounting firm Weaver has held the official opening of the firm's newest office, located in the greater Los Angeles area.

The new Weaver office is at 1600 Rosecrans Ave, Bldg 7 in Manhattan Beach, California adjacent to several sound stages and movie studios on the secure MBS Media Campus.

Michael Hearne, CPA, has joined Weaver as a partner in tax and strategic business services for the new office. Hearne and Matt Anderson, assurance partner, will work together to grow Weaver's Los Angeles practice with particular focus in the financial services industry. The partners previously worked together on the expansion of Rothstein Kass' financial services practice on the West Coast in early 2000.

"The new office space, combined with the experience of our new California team fully supports our plans to expand Weaver's brand on the West Coast and nationally," says Tommy D Lawler, Weaver's managing partner and CEO. "Partnering Michael's experience and his strong, deep relationships in the financial services industry with Weaver's existing talents and capabilities enables us to deliver top-notch service and industry experience to the many companies based on the West Coast."

Hearne brings to Weaver more than 22 years of experience in tax and business consulting and tax compliance. His extensive business and tax knowledge and insight primarily focuses in the financial services industry including hedge funds, private equity funds and structured investments in capital markets. He also has experience in real estate investments, international tax issues and tax structuring for foreign investments in the United States.

Most recently, Hearne owned Proprietary Fund Services, LLC, his own practice providing tax and business consulting and tax compliance services predominantly to high net worth families and family offices, particularly those with significant investments in financial markets, including alternative investments. Previously, he was a tax principal and shareholder for Rothstein Kass & Co, PC in Beverly Hills, California. He also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Seattle and San Francisco.

Hearne is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. Hearne earned a Master of Taxation degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Brigham Young University.
