Weinberg Capital has acquired shares in the Bourdoncle group, a key player in the French bistro-catering industry. This is the fifth acquisition of Weinberg Capital’s fund LBO WCP#3.
Led by catering specialist Thierry Bourdoncle, the group currently owns 16 establishments in Paris (Durand Dupont in Neuilly, Le Dôme de Villiers in the 17th arrondissement, Le Hibou, Le Mabillon in the sixth arrondissement, the hotel-restaurant le Central in Trouville sur Mer) and is in the process of acquiring five other restaurants.
The transaction reflects the buy-and-build strategy of the LBO WCP#3 fund. Weinberg Capital is aiming for a net turnover of EUR75 million in 2022, and currently employs approximately 500 people.
“We were attracted from the get-go by the excellent reputation and quality of the establishments owned by the Bourdoncle group, which combine high-quality food and atmosphere, in prime choice locations. We are happy to accompany Thierry Bourdoncle, a passionate and involved founder, in the next phases of the Group’s development both in Paris and beyond,” says Philippe Klocanas, Co-Founder of Weinberg Capital Partners.
“Having Weinberg Capital Partners at my side convinced me the Group’s development will go well moving forward, which on the short term will occur in Arcachon, Deauville and Puteaux. I want to thank Stephane Cohen (Wingate) for accompanying me throughout this operation,” adds Thierry Bourdoncle, President and Founder of the Groupe Bourdoncle.
