Seasoned collateralised loan obligation investor Wellington Management has held the final close of its inaugural CLO partners fund with $194m of capital commitments, including $27m from affiliates.
Wellington CLO Partners Fund I, which exceeded its initial $150m target, invests primarily in majority equity tranches of Wellington-managed US Broadly Syndicated (BSL) CLOs.
Wellington has $11.6bn in CLO debt and equity assets under management and as of 30 September 2024, Wellington has deployed three CLOs and plans to issue two to three additional deals per year.
Wellington’s CLO issuance business is a natural extension of the firm’s established credit platform. Wellington began investing in bank loan and CLO tranches in the early 2000s, continuing to bolster its team, expertise, research capabilities, and technology investments over more than two decades of experience.
As of 31 December 2024, the firm managed approximately $535bn in fixed income assets, including $5bn in dedicated bank loan strategies, and $2.8bn in dedicated CLO debt and equity portfolios for clients.
