Whitehead Mann, the global search firm and leadership consultancy, has launched a turnaround and restructuring practice to help clients navigate the current economic downturn.
The practice, which is led by Guy Beresford (pictured), a partner in the board practice, brings together experts in both search and leadership evaluation, and can draw on experience of placing the right leaders in turnaround situations and supporting leaders through multi-year restructurings and change programmes.
The practice also draws on Whitehead Mann’s experience working with the private equity industry, where it support clients throughout the deal, investment and exit cycles on business development, business intelligence and executive development as well as responding to executive search mandates.
The team will support clients in evaluating current leadership teams, identifying the skills required, delivering recession-beating leaders into key roles, and coaching current leaders to adapt to the challenging climate.
Beresford says: ‘To sustain momentum and emerge from a recession in a fitter state, leaders will need to develop a compelling strategic vision of the organisation’s future underpinned by exceptional honesty, realism and customer empathy.
‘They will need to focus relentlessly on performance, demonstrating fortitude and drive in the face of unprecedented uncertainty and change. People leadership will be more than ‘whip cracking’ – it is essential to engage a following despite the continuing gloom. This mix of transformational and motivational leadership is rare in one person.’
