Law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher has bolstered its Private Funds practice with the addition of Sam Weber as a Partner in the firm’s Asset Management Department in New York.
Weber, who joins from Kirkland & Ellis, brings extensive experience advising fund sponsors on a wide array of strategic and operational matters, including private investment fund formation, marketing, management, and regulatory compliance.
He has worked with both established and emerging sponsors across diverse investment strategies and has advised on multibillion-dollar global fundraising efforts for major sponsors and guided emerging managers through all aspects of establishing operations and raising capital.
Notably, Weber has deep expertise in advising managers of credit platforms, with experience across a range of funds such as direct lending, mezzanine, asset-based credit, special situations, and distressed funds.
He has also provided counsel on structuring separate accounts for institutional investors, both in the US and internationally, and has guided diversified asset managers on the launch of their credit platforms.
Weber joins a team of 25 partners in Willkie’s Private Funds practice, which focuses on private fund formation and liquidity solutions across the firm’s global offices, including in New York, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, London, Paris, and Frankfurt.
