Huron Capital buys seventh specialty coatings company

Huron Capital Partners’ portfolio company, Quest Specialty Chemicals, has acquired Custom Finishes.

Huron Capital Partners’ portfolio company, Quest Specialty Chemicals, has acquired Custom Finishes.

Custom Finishes will be managed under Quest’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Raabe Company, and will relocate its operations to Raabe’s facilities in Wisconsin.

Raabe is a manufacturer of branded custom matched touch-up paint and a provider of private label aerosol paint filling services.

Custom Finishes is a manufacturer of custom-matched aerosol spray paints, brush cap bottled paints, vinyl and carpet dyes, and camouflage paints.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition marks the seventh specialty chemical company that Huron has acquired through its Quest platform, and 44th overall since the inception of the firm.

Huron formed Quest in 2004 in partnership with specialty chemical industry executives Fred Quinn and Gerry Loftus, and long-time chemical industry investor Carol Bramson.

Mike Beauregard, a partner at Huron, says: "The acquisition of Custom Finishes is a synergistic addition to our platform investment in Quest. The integration of Custom Finishes into Raabe will bring added product depth and market reach and will allow management to leverage both companies’ accounts for new sales opportunities. We expect to support additional acquisitions for Quest and Raabe in the coming months as we continue to drive our buy and build approach for this investment."
