TECHNEDs adds new partner

UK Technology investment specialists TECHNEDs has appointed Iain McKenzie as a partner. McKenzie joins founder and principal Simon Mewett and lead associates Archie Maddocks and Ed Crane as the business becomes an LLP.

“Having experience and success in corporate finance and managing significant growth for Enghouse Interactive to a USD100 million business, Iain brings a diverse experience to TECHNEDs’ market-leading, technology investment practice,” says Simon Mewett, Managing Partner at TECHNEDs. “We are excited to welcome Iain as a partner to TECHNEDs family as we enter an exciting phase as we become an LLP.”

McKenzie specialises in the M&A of technology businesses and operation of private equity, venture capital and other private investment. Iain’s experience includes advising on strategy, structuring and governance matters. He joins TECHNEDs as a partner in the newly formed LLP and has hit the ground running supporting the partners with advice on current investment targets.

“Iain joins TECHNEDs as we continue to bolster our leading technology investment practice in the UK,” says Mewett. “We have now made 8 key investments in technology businesses, exceeding our target with a further five investments close to completion. Adept in corporate finance matters, Iain is the perfect addition to help TECHNEDs to grow the family to 20 investments in 2019.”

“I am delighted to be joining the TECHNEDs Investment LLP at an exciting time for the partnership. Simon, Ed and Archie have developed a unique business model which is proving invaluable in helping technology focused businesses develop to their full potential. With the growing portfolio of companies and the level of opportunity for further expansion, I believe that my background in developing and subsequently exiting a number of technology businesses will be of significant value to both the current and future TECHNEDs businesses,” says McKenzie.

“As of 1 August, TECHNEDs will officially become a Limited Liability Partnership. Becoming an LLP requires vision from the top. But it is also about supporting people with drive and passion to grow the business from the bottom up.”

“In addition, it will bolster their plans to expand investment, helping to attract new talented technology businesses to the portfolio as well as providing greater opportunities for existing members of the TECHNEDs family.”
