Advent raises $30bn across flagship buyout and mid-market funds

Private equity firm Advent International has raised approximately $30bn across its latest flagship buyout fund and a newly launched mid-market strategy, securing one of the largest fundraising totals of 2026 despite continued pressure on private equity distributions, according to a report by Reuters.

The firm closed Advent Global Private Equity XI (GPE XI) at $27bn, making it the largest buyout fund raised this year, alongside more than $3bn in commitments for a mid-market strategy launched in March.

GPE XI will reportedly target investments across multiple sectors and transaction sizes, primarily in North America and Europe, while maintaining exposure to Asia-Pacific and Latin America. The mid-market vehicle will invest between $100m and $350m in companies with enterprise values of up to $1.25bn, using Advent’s existing investment teams.

Commitments reportedly came from new and existing investors, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, family offices and other institutional allocators. The fundraising comes as slower exits and weaker distributions continue to constrain capital available for new private equity commitments.
