Alpine Investors, a middle market private equity firm focused on software and services, has promoted Matt Moore to Partner and Daniel Cohen to Principal. The promotions build on the growth trajectory of the firm, which is currently deploying its USD1 billion fund closed in 2019.
“At Alpine, we measure ourselves by the quality of our talented, dedicated and diverse team,” says Graham Weaver, CEO and Founder at Alpine Investors. “Matt and Daniel have been instrumental in our firm’s growth – in making great investments, building the team and creating an amazing culture. We’re excited to recognise their contributions and look forward to their continued contributions.”
Moore, who has served as Chief of Staff since joining the firm in 2016, was instrumental in the creation of the PeopleFirst philosophy, which is now rolled out to all portfolio companies as a key driver of returns. Prior to Alpine, Moore was in the world of retained search, where he helped venture backed startups, public companies, and PE-backed entities build executive teams that created over USD20 billion in market value. Matt graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Geography.
Cohen helped lead the firm’s investment in Perennial EdTech, which was sold to Frontline Education in August 2019. He currently sits on the boards of Riverside Insights, Apex Service Partners, and Light Wave Dental. Prior to Alpine, Cohen worked at investment bank DBO Partners, where he focused on technology M&A and private financings. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from the Haas School of Business at University of California, Berkeley.
“Daniel and my careers are examples of how you can develop and grow within Alpine,” says Moore. “We’re excited about our future at a firm that consistently provides opportunity to exceptional, driven people, and leads the industry in mentorship.”
