Apex Group has added to its executive leadership team with the appointment of Kimberly DeTrask as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Maxwell Johnston as Chief Business Officer (CBO), both effective 1 October 2025.
DeTrask joins from State Street, where she spent over a decade in senior finance roles, most recently serving as Treasurer and Executive Vice President. Prior to State Street, she spent 14 years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in the Risk and Policy unit. Her experience spans leadership roles in both London and Boston, including a tenure as CFO of State Street International.
A CFA charterholder and alumna of Harvard’s CFO Leadership Program, she will report directly to Founder and CEO Peter Hughes and join the Group Executive Committee. Her remit includes advancing the firm’s global finance function in line with its institutional growth strategy.
Johnston, a seven-year Apex veteran, moves into the CBO role after previously serving in roles across M&A, Chief of Staff, and most recently as interim CFO. He will focus on commercial alignment across regional operations and support the firm’s efforts to enhance client delivery.
The appointments mark a continued focus by Apex on strengthening its leadership team as the business scales globally.
