Former Ardian executives Vincent Gombault and Ingmar Vallano have teamed up with David Enriquez of New York City Retirement Systems and Harry van der Elst, a former Data Scientist at Coller Capital, to launch Clipway, a new global private equity secondaries firm.
Clipway, which says it will leverage proprietary technology to optimise its investment strategy, has secured strategic, minority investments from global investor General Atlantic and European independent asset manager Carmignac to support its growth plans.
The firm will focus on investments in the LP-led secondary market, with a particular focus on diversified LP portfolios of buyout and growth managers principally in North America and Western Europe using its proprietary Tech-Enabled Secondaries System (TESS), which employs a variety of continuously improving machine learning models and data analytics.
The team will be headquartered in London with an office in New York, with a view to a fully transatlantic approach to investing.
