ATEP expands investment team

Alliance Trust Equity Partners (ATEP), the private equity arm of Alliance Trust PLC, has appointed Layla Fear as Investment Manager.  Fear will add to ATEP’s skill set as it drives forward Alliance Trust’s commitment to UK and European private equity through funds and co-investment.

She will work as part of the team headed up by Raymond Abbott, alongside Iain Christie and John Morrison (Directors of ATEP) and Richard Hope (Investment Director). Fear says, “I look forward to helping build a high quality Fund of Funds business.”

Fear joins Alliance Trust Equity Partners from SL Capital Partners where she worked as Private Equity Investment Analyst with responsibilities for the origination, execution and monitoring of investment opportunities in Europe. She was also an Advisory Board Member of three European private equity funds.

Raymond Abbott, Head of Alliance Trust Equity Partners, says, “The addition of Layla to the ATEP team adds a wider experience of European funds and allows ATEP to increase the pace of commitment to private equity over the coming years.  Her skills complement the direct deal skills in the team and we are very pleased with her appointment. This is at a time when we believe our fund partners will be operating in a market where new investments will be at attractive valuations and provide the opportunity for superior returns for Alliance Trust.”
