As part of a recent mandate to acquire EUR500m worth of assets, B Capital Partners has guided its client through the purchase of two wind portfolios made up of over 80 MW of operational wind park assets from across Europe’s expanding green energy sector.
The initial portfolio (57MW) was acquired from Solarparc, a subsidiary of SolarWorld, a German stock exchange listed group which specialises in Solar Energy. The second portfolio was acquired from BayWa r.e. renewable energy. Having sourced and negotiated the transactions, B Capital will also manage the assets for its client in the future.
Dr Barbara Weber, founding partner of B Capital, says: "The kinds of asset we purchase on behalf of our clients are perfectly suited for low risk institutional investors who prefer to go direct in order to have full control over the assets they buy, their leverage, and their holding period. We identify these assets for them, negotiate the transaction on their behalf and have the capability to manage the assets afterwards as required. This way, even smaller investors with less resource and no dedicated infrastructure investment team can afford to build tailor-made portfolios, which optimally fit their needs.”
Having previously completed a similar acquisition of a 30MW+ German energy asset portfolio for an insurance group from Southern Germany, B Capital is keen to expand its investment model beyond the North West European energy sector into other low-risk infrastructure sectors.
“PPPs, transmission, distribution, water and transport assets all have great potential for investment from our clients with B Capital guiding the complex transactions and opening up new possibilities to institutional investors everywhere,” says Weber.
B Capital Partners is an independent, Zurich-based full service infrastructure investment adviser and asset manager solely focused on providing bespoke solutions to institutional clients for their infrastructure allocations, covering equity and debt, directs, secondary portfolios or fund investments.
