Beenext global VC focused fund spins out from Gordian Capital platform

Beenext, a global venture capital-focused fund has spun out from the Gordian Capital platform.

Since 2005, Singapore-based Gordian has provided a regulated, physical and operational infrastructure for institutional quality teams seeking to launch private equity, venture capital, real estate, private credit and hedge funds.

“Although we have many years of venture capital investment experience, we had limited experience in establishing a fund, tax matters and structuring as well as the operational and regulatory aspects of operating a fund. Gordian Capital was very helpful and handled all those activities allowing us to focus on investing and working with our investee companies and giving us the flexibility to build our own brand. Our spin out was straightforward and smooth,” says Teruhide Sato, Founder and Managing Partner of Beenext Capital Management Pte Ltd.

“With our first fund reaching full investment stage, we felt it was time to spin out and establish our own asset management business. Gordian Capital was certainly a great launch pad,” says Hironori Maeda, Managing Partner at Beenext.

Beenext makes venture capital investments, with a primary focus on seed and Series A in Southeast Asia, India, Japan & US. The investment strategy of the Fund is focused on the areas of marketplaces, payments, fintech, and software as a service. It has made over 80 investments to date.

“This, our second spinout in 2017, following the recent spin out of Qualgro, is further proof of concept of our institutional platform for experienced investment professionals,” says Mark Voumard, Founder and CEO of Gordian Capital. “As Asia’s leading institutional fund platform, we enjoyed working with the highly experienced team from Beenext assisting them in the launch of their first fund and providing the requisite regulated, physical, operational infrastructure and support. With their new company now established, we wish them all the best and continued success. We look forward to continue to support the growth of the venture capital industry in Singapore.”
