Citco is a specialist in fund administration, investor relations, treasury, and technology solutions for the alternative investment industry. Tim Harvey, Head of Private Assets – Client Services, outlines what sets the firm apart and how it is helping clients meet current and future challenges and opportunities.
Please describe your firm’s service offering and what makes it special.
Citco provides end-to-end fund administration, investor relations, treasury and technology solutions across private markets and the broader alternative investment industry. What differentiates us is our globally integrated operating model, proprietary technology ecosystem and deep cross-asset expertise. We combine operational excellence, data capabilities and innovation to help managers navigate increasingly complex fund structures, reporting needs and investor demands.
How would you describe the role your services played in helping your private markets clients navigate the economic landscape of the past 12 months?
Over the past 12 months, managers have navigated a fast-evolving environment shaped by higher financing costs, liquidity pressure, product innovation, strategy convergence and growing investor expectations for transparency. Our role has been to help clients adapt their operating models while maintaining scalability, control and service quality.
We supported clients expanding into new asset classes, hybrid fund structures, semi-liquid vehicles and retail-oriented products by providing integrated administration, data and reporting capabilities supported by Citco’s technology platform. Our platforms enable managers to consolidate data across strategies, automate workflows, improve oversight and deliver more timely, transparent reporting to investors and other stakeholders.
As operating models become more complex, clients are increasingly looking for providers that combine technology, data and automation with deep operational expertise. We continue to invest across our service model and technology stack, helping managers unlock efficiencies, strengthen governance and make more informed decisions through high-quality data, workflow tools and automation.
Ultimately, every growth journey is different. Citco believes the best way to support managers is through a true partnership model—one that aligns strategically, integrates more deeply into their businesses, removes barriers to growth and evolves alongside their requirements. For firms that navigate that journey well, the result can be a more scalable operating model and a stronger competitive position.
What product or service innovation from the past 12 months are you most proud of?
We are particularly proud of our continued investment in technology, data and operating model innovation to support the next generation of private markets structures.
As private markets continue to democratise, managers require operating models capable of supporting higher investor volumes, increased reporting frequency and more complex liquidity requirements. We have expanded our capabilities to support structures such as European ELTIFs and US SEC-registered vehicles, including Business Development Companies (BDCs), underpinned by scalable technology, investor servicing and operational infrastructure.
We are also advancing the use of AI and automation across our private markets business. By transforming fragmented and unstructured data into more structured, governed and actionable information, we are helping clients improve transparency, streamline operations and build a stronger foundation for future growth.
Managers increasingly recognise the need to be data-driven and to assess whether their operating model and partner ecosystem can support that ambition. For those that choose the right long-term strategic partner, the transition to a more scalable, data-led model can become a meaningful competitive differentiator.
What are the most interesting technological advances reshaping private markets this year?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is attracting significant attention across private markets, but the most meaningful advances are taking place at the intersection of AI, data management and workflow automation.
The industry’s biggest challenge is not a lack of AI tools, but the need for structured, reliable and accessible data. Managers are increasingly investing in centralised data platforms and governance frameworks that create a stronger single source of truth across asset classes and fund structures. Once that foundation is in place, AI can help automate workflows, enhance reporting, improve exception management and generate deeper insights from complex datasets.
At Citco, we are leveraging AI and advanced automation to help transform fragmented private markets data and document-heavy processes into more structured, actionable intelligence. Combined with our technology platform and global operating model, these innovations are helping clients scale more efficiently while meeting growing demands for transparency, control and speed.
