Calculus Capital exits employee engagement platform Mo to US HR tech giant UKG

Calculus Capital has successfully sold its stake in Mo (Thanksbox Limited), a UK-based employee engagement and recognition platform, marking a profitable exit for its investors with a 1.8x return on its investment.

The growth investor first backed Mo in 2020 via its EIS and VCT funds alongside Mercia Ventures.

Mo’s proprietary platform, ‘Moments’, allows employees to share and celebrate workplace achievements, helping companies reduce staff churn and boost engagement. During Calculus’s holding period, the firm secured a high-profile enterprise client base including Ocado, William Hill, Crowne Plaza, Axol, and SGN.

US HR technology firm UKG provides an AI-driven Workforce Operating Platform used by 80,000 organisations globally, including more than 70% of the Fortune 500. Calculus’s VCT portfolio will benefit from an additional £1.53m in cash, supporting the fund’s targeted annual tax-free dividend for shareholders. This represents the second profitable VCT exit for Calculus in 2025, following the sale of Rotageek in Q2.
