Global private investment firm Carlyle has appointed Masahiko Fukasawa as Head of Global Portfolio Solutions (GPS) Japan, effective immediately, with a focus on the firm’s portfolio operational value creation efforts in Japan.
GPS is a global team of functional experts across revenue/pricing, cost/cash, digital, talent, procurement, IT and other disciplines that provides insight and support to Carlyle’s investment process and portfolio value creation efforts. Working with investment advisory teams, the firm’s network of advisors, as well as an ecosystem of partners, GPS’s goal is to increase the speed and scale of performance improvement and transformational change, according to a press release.
As Head of Global Portfolio Solutions Japan, Fukasawa will work closely with the Carlyle Japan Co-Heads, Kazuhiro Yamada and Takaomi Tomioka, as well as Richard Elder, Global Head of GPS, who is based in Washington DC, US.
Prior to joining Carlyle, Fukasawa was a Senior Advisor at AlixPartners, based in Tokyo. He also held various leadership positions including Co-Head of Asia and Co-Head of Japan. He was also previously a Partner at Kearney (previously AT Kearney) and held a number of roles including Head of Japan as well as a Member of the global board and Chairman of the strategy & portfolio committee.
Since 2016, Mr. Fukasawa has served as a Non-Executive Director at Fukuoka Financial Group and The Bank of Fukuoka.
