Global investment firm Carlyle is to sell its stake in Oyatsu Company, Ltd (Oyatsu), a Japanese snack manufacturer, to DC Joes1 Co, which is owned by a fund managed and operated by D Capital, Inc.

Founded in 1948, Oyatsu produces the flagship “Baby Star” ramen snack and other savoury snack products.

Since first acquiring a majority stake in Oyatsu in May 2014, Caryle has helped grow the business from a local player into an established global manufacturer. During Carlye’s investment period, Oyatsu has increased its global footprint to 14 markets internationally, while consolidated sales have increased by 25%, and international sales approximately threefold (as of July 2022).
