Vulcan Capital, the private investment group of Vulcan Inc, has appointed Chris Temple as president.
Vulcan Capital, the private investment group of Vulcan Inc, has appointed Chris Temple as president.
Temple (pictured) has been vice president at the firm since September 2008. He also serves on Vulcan Inc’s executive committee.
As president, Temple will be responsible for overall management of Vulcan Capital’s investment activities, which include direct investing in public and private securities as well as indirect investments in traditional and alternative asset classes.
Vulcan Capital’s current portfolio spans a range of industry sectors, including media and communications, energy and natural resources, financial and information services, technology, and life sciences. Current portfolio companies include Plains All American Pipeline, Charter Communications, Makena Capital Management, Towerco, Laureate Education, BiPar Sciences, Gist, and Evri among others. Former portfolio investments include companies such as DreamWorks, Oxygen Media and Ticketmaster.
Temple replaces Lance Conn, who had been president of Vulcan Capital since 2004 and will continue to serve as a director on the boards of several Vulcan portfolio companies including Plains All-American Pipeline and Charter Communications.

Prior to joining Vulcan, Temple served as a managing director at Tailwind Capital, a New York based private equity firm. Prior to Tailwind, he was a managing director at both Friend Skoler and Thayer Capital Partners. He began his professional career in public accounting with KPMG.
