Sofinnova Partners, a European life sciences venture capital firm based in Paris, London and Milan, has made an investment in Genespire, a Milan-based gene-therapy company developing best-in-class therapies for patients affected by genetic diseases. This is the third investment for the Sofinnova Telethon Fund, bringing the total financing of Italian startups by Sofinnova Partners to EUR25 million over the past six months. The Sofinnova Telethon Fund is the largest fund in Italy dedicated to biotechnologies, making early-stage investments in Italian companies targeting cures for rare and genetic diseases.

Holland Capital has sold its portfolio company Inno4Life, a manufacturer of machines for the pharmaceutical industry, to Dec Group, a Swiss powder handling and process containment equipment provider.
Inno4Life’s management will remain actively involved in the company after its acquisition, which will continue to operate under its own name following the deal.

Albion Capital has refinanced Albion Community Power, a GBP105 million renewable energy portfolio, by raising GBP57 million of debt across the portfolio of onshore wind, hydro, solar and battery projects.The successful refinancing demonstrated Albion’s ability to raise, deploy and return institutional funds within a five year period. The portfolio of FIT and ROC wind, hydro, rooftop solar and battery storage projects delivered unlevered returns of 15-20 per cent for shareholders; more than 30 per cent above the target returns.

Taxfix, a digital tax app aimed at simplifying the process of filing a tax return, has raised USD65 million in a Series C round from investors including Index Ventures and Creandum.
The company will use the funds to grow its 200-strong team by another 100 people, as it broadens its range of products and expands into new countries later this year, including its operations in Europe.
The round was led by Index Ventures, with partner Neil Rimer joining the Taxfix board. Existing investors Valar Ventures, Creandum and Redalpine also participated in the round.

Growth-equity investment firm Edison Partners has completed the sale of Clearpool Group, a New York-based electronic trading provider and independent agency broker-dealer, to BMO Financial Group. The deal is Edison’s third institutional fintech exit to a strategic buyer this year, which also includes the sale of Scivantage to Refinitiv and Solovis to Nasdaq, and is the second portfolio company exit between Edison and Clearpool CEO Joe Wald.
