Private equity firms are continuing to invest in the UK, despite the uncertainty created by the Brexit process, according to a new report from eFront, a financial software and solutions provider dedicated to Alternative Investments. eFront’s research showed that capital commitments have continued strongly since the Brexit vote in mid-2016, with deployment becoming more stable from 2016 onwards, compared with the trend seen over the previous three years. The average quarterly growth of capital deployment from Q1 2016 to Q4 2018 stood at 0.98 per cent, compared with 0.68 per cent from Q1 2013 to Q4 2015.   This pace
LBO France has acquired a majority stake in the Infodis Group, a French specialist in facilities management and systems & network engineering. The investment has been made alongside Vighen Papazian, Infodis’ chairman and founder; Jacques Gourseaud and Florent Burlet, its deputy CEOs; and Walid Abi Chahla, head of its Visualdis unit; as well as other managers who will hold equity stakes.   Founded in 1985 and based in Roissy, near Paris, theInfodis Group currently employs around 500 people. Aquiline Capital Partners-backed ClearCourse Partnership (ClearCourse), a group of technology companies providing membership software and services, has acquired Circdata, a provider of event technology. The deal is ClearCourse’s fifth acquisition since its foundation in October 2018 and represents an expansion of the fast-growing Partnership’s offering into the events, exhibitions and conference space.   Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Newbury, Circdata was originally a data management company and has since developed into a leading event technology business, providing software solutions to many of the world’s largest exhibition and conference organisers. Nexxus has fully divested from Harmon Hall Holding, a portfolio company from Nexxus Capital Private Equity Fund III. Harmon Hall is an English language teaching institution in Mexico with more than 51 years of experience and 105 schools in operation, making it the largest school network nationwide. Of all Harmon Hall schools, 76 are owned and 29 are franchised.   The Company has been acquired by Talisis, a subsidiary from Grupo Topaz, a strategic investor with experience in the educational sector. 414 Capital and Ibis Capital advised the Company and its shareholders on the transaction.
O’Melveny has represented Wi-Fi technology specialist Quantenna Communications on its acquisition by ON Semiconductor Corporation (ON) in an all-cash transaction.

 Founded in 2006, San Jose-based Quantenna is the global leader of high performance Wi-Fi solutions. The acquisition consideration represents an equity value of approximately USD1.07 billion and enterprise value of approximately USD936 million. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2019.

Vortex Energy, a European renewable energy platform managed by the private equity arm of EFG Hermes, has completed the sale of a 49 per cent stake in its Pan-European operational wind power portfolio managed and co-owned by EDPR, to institutional investors advised by JP Morgan Asset Management. The portfolio includes 56 operational wind farms with gross capacity of 998 MW spread across Spain, France, Portugal and Belgium. Pulse Evolution Group, a developer of hyper-realistic digital humans for entertainment, mixed reality and artificial intelligence, has launched its Asia equity capital campaign with a USD1 million lead investment from Tsang’s Group of Hong Kong. Tsang’s Group and its investors have acquired 88,636 shares of common shares of Pulse Evolution Group at a purchase price of USD11.28 per share. The Company has also granted Tsang’s Group and its investors warrants to acquire an additional 200,000 common shares, subject to exercise prices of between USD11.00 and USD13.50 per share, or USD11.31 on a weighted average basis, payable in cash at any time
China Synergy Fund, co-managed by CICC Capital and TPG, has entered into an exclusivity agreement with Impala to acquire Electropoli, a leading provider of surface treatment services in Europe, notably for the automotive industry. Former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, President of Silk Road Fund Wang Yanzhi, and CICC UK CEO Xia Xinhan attended the signing ceremony and gave speeches.   China Synergy Fund has co-led this investment with Trail Capital, a Paris-based European private equity firm.   Headquartered in France, Electropoli has successfully developed into a pan-European company, benefitting from a strong technology and industrial process know-how. UK private equity house Maven Capital Partners (Maven) has led the management buyout (MBO) of CMS Window Systems (CMS), an end-to-end provider of window and door solutions.   The transaction includes the largest equity cheque written by Maven as well as debt funding from Clydesdale Bank led by its Corporate and Structured Finance team, and additional equity from the Scottish Investment Bank. Exiting investors include mid-market private equity firm, LDC.   CMS specialises in designing, manufacturing and installing energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly products, including PVCu and aluminium, windows, doors and curtain walling systems.
