The independent pan-European investment company Argos Wityu has acquired a majority stake in German aktivoptik Group (aktivoptik), as part of a succession plan via its Fund VII. This was announced today by both companies. With a network of 76 stores, most of them in hypermarkets and other highly frequented locations, and sales of around EUR50 million (as of 2017), the medium-sized family company is Germany’s fifth-largest optician and hearing care chain. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or other details of the transaction. The transaction is still subject to approval of the relevant antitrust authorities.  
EyeSouth Partners has completed a strategic partnership with Florida Eye Microsurgical Institute and Boynton Beach ASC (Florida Eye Microsurgical), expanding its presence into the South Florida region.  EyeSouth is an eye care-focused physician services organisation formed by Shore Capital Partners, a lower middle market healthcare private equity firm. Florida Eye Microsurgical is led by ophthalmologists Randy Katz, MD, Lee Friedman, MD, Barry Schechter, MD, and Jason Gorscak, MD, and CFO/Administrator, Jason Feuer. The team consists of five ophthalmologists, one optometrist and approximately 75 support staff. The clinical staff provides care out of four locations in Boynton Beach, Wellington, Boca Raton,
Carey Olsen’s corporate team in the Cayman Islands has represented Lendable, a tech-enabled finance platform, on its latest auto loan securitisation with Mombasa-based lender Watu Credit. Lendable is mainstreaming off-balance sheet financing for alternative lenders whose customer base is small and micro businesses. Lendable’s risk engine, Maestro, digests and analyses individual monthly repayment data and alternative lender financials. It produces credit data and loan repayment forecasts that can meet the needs of global commercial lenders.    The transaction will enable Watu to grow its capacity across Kenya  to finance the purchase of more ‘boda bodas’ (motorcycle taxis) on credit by
BTIG and its affiliate Pacific View Asset Management have made a strategic investment in Indigena Capital, a firm dedicated to investing in partnerships with Tribal Nations in the United States, and First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada (Indigenous Nations). Financial terms of the private transaction have not been disclosed.   Indigena Capital and its predecessor companies have a 30-year track record of success with more than USD2.0 billion invested for the benefit of Indigenous Nations. Indigena works to identify, capitalise and execute upon investment opportunities that are generated from the unique rights and resources controlled by Indigenous Nations.
Funds managed by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) are to acquire PowerTeam Services (PowerTeam), a provider of maintenance and construction services to the US utility industries. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.   PowerTeam provides services to maintain, repair, upgrade, and install natural gas and electric distribution and transmission systems. These services are critical to maintaining the safety, reliability and integrity of ageing gas and electric infrastructure. The company’s customer base includes leading regulated utilities in the southeastern and midwestern United States, which it serves through a network of 42 locations in 21 states with approximately 4,200 employees.
O’Melveny has represented ScanSource on its acquisition of Canpango, a Salesforce implementation and consulting partner.

 The acquisition closed on 20 August 2018. The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Private equity and venture capital investment into companies in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) reached a record EUR3.5 billion in 2017, new data from Invest Europe reveals. With a 113 per cent year-on-year increase, this amount surpasses the region’s previous peak in 2008 by 40 per cent, according to the industry association’s Central and Eastern Europe Private Equity Statistics 2017 report, which also shows strong results across fundraising and exits. Parabellum Capital portfolio company Parseq, an international business process outsourcing firm, has sold its contact centre division to Scotland-based customer services outsourcer, Kura Group. The terms of the sale, which follows a successful turnaround of the business led by its Executive Chairman and CEO Rami Cassis, are undisclosed, but the deal creates significant value for shareholders.   Parseq’s Finance and Administration division, which is Parseq’s historic core business, will continue to operate from its existing site at Hellaby, Yorkshire.   Parseq was originally founded by Mr Cassis as Documetric in 2007, following the buyout of Atos Origin’s payment processing division
Maven Capital Partners (Maven), has provided Serene Furnishings Limited (Serene Furnishings), one of the UK’s leading furniture wholesalers, with a GBP250,000 injection from its MEIF WM Debt Fund, supported by an additional GBP250,000 of funding from HSBC.  This investment is to support the firm’s ambitious growth strategy, focused on diversifying its product portfolio, upgrading IT systems and creating three new jobs at its West Bromwich site.   Established in 2005, Serene Furnishing has in recent years expanded its offering from the original core business of supplying bedroom furniture to now include a broader range of living room products.
