Private Equity firm OpenGate Capital has completed the acquisition of Jøtul Group, a manufacturer of residential stoves and fireplaces, from Swedish-listed investment company Ratos AB. “Historically, Jøtul suffered from the impact of high market volatility and underinvestment that made it more susceptible to fluctuating customer demand,” says Andrew Nikou, founder and CEO of OpenGate Capital. “Jøtul has a tremendous heritage, an excellent brand name, and a lot of untapped value. Hercules Capital has entered the commercial finance space through a strategic acquisition of Gibraltar Business Capital (Gibraltar), a provider of working capital to small and mid-market businesses via asset-based loan and factoring solutions. Gibraltar will be held as a portfolio company of Hercules. Gibraltar will continue to operate as an independent senior secured asset-based lender to select small and mid-market businesses and operate under the Gibraltar Business Capital brand. Gibraltar and all its existing employees will remain at its headquarters in Northbrook (Chicago), Illinois. NorthEdge Capital (NorthEdge) has completed the sale of Jigsaw24, a leading provider of IT solutions to the corporate, creative and education sectors, to private equity firm Alcuin Capital Partners. Based in Nottingham, Jigsaw24 is a B2B reseller, integrator and managed service provider of Apple technology, Adobe and Avid software.   The company, which counts the likes of Barclays, Disney, Channel 4, BBC Sport and News UK among some its clients, has achieved strong sales growth of over 120 per cent (GBP125 million in the year to May 2017) under the stewardship of NorthEdge – while also benefitting from a 25-year
Mid-market private equity investor Equistone Partners Europe (Equistone) is to acquire a majority stake in Karavel-Promovacances Group and FRAM Group from LBO France. This investment will be made alongside Alain de Mendonça and Folco Aloisi (founders of the Karavel-Promovacances Group), Cyrille Fradin (the Group’s Financial and Risk Director), as well as some additional FRAM and Karavel-Promovacances directors and employees. Private equity house Endless has sold two of the remaining four divisions of its Brabant Alucast International (BAI) investment to NASDAQ-listed business, Shiloh Indistries Inc for EUR52.9 million. This follows the earlier sale by Endless of the BAI business in the Czech Republic in late 2016 to an MBO team.  BAI is a specialist in the design, development and production of aluminium and magnesium components for the automotive industry.   In its first Fund IV deal headquartered outside the UK, Endless acquired the heavily loss-making BAI and its five operating sites in the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic in
Sotralu Group, supported by its majority shareholder Bridgepoint Development Capital, has acquired GNS Group in Portugal. Its aim is to consolidate its position in Europe and continue to develop its export market further afield (China, India, the Middle East). With sales of more than EUR8 million and strong growth over the last three years, the family-owned GNS Group is a Portuguese specialist in locks, hinges and accessories for aluminium joinery (including doors). Carpet & Flooring (Trading) Limited, one of the UK’s leading distributors of floor covering products, has secured a GBP15 million asset-based lending (ABL) facility from Secure Trust Bank Commercial Finance to support strategic acquisitions. The business has its headquarters in Redditch in the Midlands with 11 branches nationwide, including Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol. German Equity Partners IV (GEP IV), a private equity fund managed by the independent German investment company ECM Equity Capital Management (ECM), has acquired a stake in Albrecht & Dill Cosmetics (A&D). The previous sole owner, Philipp Sahling, will continue to run the company as Managing Partner.   As part of the transaction, the extended management team will also invest in the traditional Hamburg-based company.
