EagleTree Capital (EagleTree), on behalf of its private equity fund EagleTree Partners IV, has acquired a majority stake in WaterFleet, a specialist in mobile water and wastewater treatment solutions, from several existing shareholders, including founders Alan R Pyle and Allison C Pyle. As part of the transaction, the existing shareholders will retain a significant minority stake in WaterFleet, and the entire management team, including both founders, will continue to lead the Company. Co-investors, including Stars Investment Management Co., are also investing alongside EagleTree. Envisagenics, a biotechnology company that applies Artificial Intelligence to the genetic sequence of patients to discover new therapies, has raised USD2.35 million in a seed funding round. The investors include Third Kind Venture Capital (3KVC), Cosine, LLC (NYC biotech investors), Dolby Family Ventures, Dynamk Capital, NY Empire State Development (ESD), and SV Angel.   Envisagenics’ proprietary discovery platform, SpliceCoreTM, can identify new ribonucleic acid (RNA) targets and design new drugs to correct RNA splicing errors in cancer and genetic diseases. Envisagenics launched their commercial product, SpliceCore, at Unboxing on 19 October, 2017, featuring pitches and demos from Peter Thiel’s Breakout Labs
Healthcare-focused Venture capital firm Flare Capital Partners has made an investment in VisitPay, the provider of a technology solution used by major US healthcare systems with total net patient revenue of USD30 billion. Gary Gottlieb, an Executive Partner at Flare Capital and former CEO at Partners HealthCare, commented: “As the consumer share of payments skyrockets, VisitPay provides a uniquely patient and provider centred solution to engagement and billing.”   With origins in consumer finance, VisitPay equips hospital systems with powerful segmentation and analytics tools while empowering patient consumers with an easy to use solution for managing their healthcare bills. LBO France has acquired Bexley, a French specialty retailer of men’s high quality footwear. The founding manager, Eric Botton, will keep a minority interest in the Company. Founded in 1985, Bexley rapidly established itself as one of the most successful French retailers of men’s footwear positioned in the affordable luxury segment and offering excellent quality-price ratio. This acquisition is part of Blick Rothenberg’s growth and acquisition strategy and is another step forward for CogitalGroup and its plans to build a technology driven, international business services group. Euronext has expanded its ‘Federal model’ with the acquisition of 100 per cent of the shares and voting rights of The Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) for EUR137 million. The acquisition is in line with Euronext’s long term strategy, and sees Ireland become its sixth core European country. Euronext intends to position ISE as centre of excellence for the Group in the listing of debt, funds and ETFs.   Stéphane Boujnah (pictured), Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Managing Board of Euronext, says: “The Irish Stock Exchange joining Euronext represents a major milestone in the expansion of Euronext’s federal model since its IPO.
Ardian, an independent private investment company, has entered into exclusivity with some family shareholders and Tikehau Capital to acquire a controlling stake into Les Dérivés Résiniques et Terpéniques (DRT). The proposed transaction values DRT at approximately EUR1 billion and is fully supported by DRT’s management team which will remain in place and is headed by its CEO Laurent Labatut. This transaction would be a further step in the company’s development path as many individual shareholders and Tikehau Capital have decided to reinvest part of their proceeds alongside Ardian.   Created in 1932 and headquartered in Dax (France), DRT is a global
Mubadala Investment Company, an Abu Dhabi Government owned company, has acquired Verno Capital’s private equity advisory unit to strengthen its internal investment and asset management capability across Russia and the CIS region.   The transaction sees a number of Verno employees transfer to Mubadala, who will now have a complete focus on Mubadala’s Russian portfolio and investment pipeline. This comes as Mubadala seeks to grow its Russia investment portfolio across multiple sectors.   Mubadala has been a major shareholder and investor in Verno Capital since 2010, deploying capital across Verno’s funds as well as using its investment advisory unit’s services to support
