Early-stage venture capital firm Blumberg Capital, seed investor and largest institutional shareholder in HootSuite, has realised a 52x return on its investment in the social media management specialist in just four years.
Blumberg Capital and Hearst Ventures led the original seed round financing of HootSuite in December 2009 and a subsequent financing in 2011. Blumberg Capital has been the largest institutional shareholder in HootSuite until today’s Series B funding.
HootSuite has announced a USD165m Series B financing, led by Insight Venture Partners with participation from Accel Partners and existing investor OMERS Ventures.

Spain’s AENA, the world’s largest airports operator with some 200 million passengers a year, has agreed to acquire London Luton Airport, the UK’s fifth largest airport in terms of passengers, in association with the infrastructure fund of AXA Private Equity.
The consortium, in which AENA has a 51 per cent stake and AXA Private Equity 49 per cent, will pay TBI Limited GBP394.4m for the London Luton airport concession.
TBI is owned jointly by Abertis Infraestructuras with a 90 per cent shareholding, and by AENA, with a 10 per cent shareholding. The transaction is subject to the authorisation of
Private equity firm Arsenal Capital Partners has completed the acquisition of ADCO Global, a provider of specialty sealants, tapes and adhesives, and merged the company with its adhesives and secants platform investment, Royal Adhesives and Sealants.
ADCO Global supplies specialty adhesives, sealants, tapes and coatings serving construction, transportation and industrial markets throughout the world via its operating subsidiaries ADCO Products in North America and Kommerling Chemiche Fabrik in Europe, Africa and Asia.

Dropcam, makers of Dropcam HD – a Wi-Fi video monitoring camera with cloud recording service – has raised USD30m in series C funding led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP).
Existing investors Accel Partners and Menlo Ventures and new investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers also participated in the round. This funding brings the total amount raised to USD47.8m.
The investment will be used to grow the engineering team, broaden the company’s product line and expand into new sales channels.

BaltCap, the Baltic-focused private equity firm, has sold Medicap Holding to synlab, a European provider of laboratory services.
synlab has acquired 100 per cent of Medicap Holding, which owns Estonian, Finnish and Lithuanian laboratories operating under the Quattromed and Sorpo brand names, from BaltCap and individual shareholders.
By acquiring operations in three new markets, synlab further expands its footprint in Europe and becomes the first international laboratory chain to enter the Baltic markets.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts has completed its acquisition of all of the outstanding shares of Gardner Denver for approximately USD3.9bn, including the assumption of debt.

Funds affiliated with Apollo Global Management have signed a definitive agreement under which Apollo will acquire Pitney Bowes Management Services (PBMS) for approximately USD400m in cash.
The transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013. Until then, Pitney Bowes will continue to operate PBMS.

Activa Capital and Bpifrance have signed agreements with the managers of Nexeya and several financial shareholders relating to the acquisition of a majority block representing 57.9 per cent of total capital and 58.7 per cent of voting rights for EUR12.00 per share.
Nexeya is an industrial group which operates mainly in the defence, aeronautics and transportation sectors.
The transaction, to which the main managers and founders of Nexeya are fully associated, aims at providing the company with a new reference shareholder to support the implementation of its development strategy.
