Altium, the international investment bank, has agreed a strategic partnership with US investment bank Petsky Prunier. The alliance follows a selective screening process and offers Altium’s clients improved access to advisory services in North America.   Petsky Prunier’s areas of expertise mirror those covered by Altium. The US firm provides advice on M&A and private placements to businesses in the digital media, e-commerce, digital advertising, marketing, technology, software, communications, information and business services and healthcare sectors. ScaleArc, a provider of database infrastructure software that simplifies the way database environments are deployed and managed, has secured USD12.3m in new funding from venture capital firms. The round was led by Accel Ventures with participation from existing investors including Trinity Ventures and Nexus Ventures, from whom ScaleArc had previously raised USD5.33m in 2011. The new funding will be used primarily to invest in sales and marketing to fuel ScaleArc’s global expansion in the multi-billion dollar Big Data market, as well as to maintain aggressive development of its product roadmap. Main Street Capital has closed two transactions, including a new portfolio investment and the partial exit of an existing portfolio investment. The new portfolio investment includes USD40.5m of invested capital in Quality Lease and Rental Holdings, the parent company of Quality Lease Service and Quality Lease Rental Service.  Main Street’s investment consists of USD38m in senior, secured term debt in Quality and a USD2.5m direct equity investment in Quality’s parent holding company. Prupim has confirmed the purchase of the 381-space Carlton Street Car Park, phase two of McLaren Life’s 275,000sq ft regeneration development at Dolphin Square in Weston-Super-Mare, for the sum of GBP9.5m. The property is held on a 200-year lease from North Somerset District Council and is underlet to North Somerset District Council on a new 45-year lease. The multi storey car park was constructed and operated by McLaren Life until it was leased to the council and acquired by Prupim. Demolition of phase three has commenced and will see the development of over 200,000 sq ft of retail and leisure,
Plastics specialist Wells Plastics has received a GBP1.5m follow-on investment from private equity house Key Capital Partners and current shareholders. Staffordshire-based Wells Plastics will use the additional funding to invest in new machinery to increase production capacity and offer more flexible production. Following the funding, the business is planning to increase output by around 25 per cent to support its growth plans.   Reverte, Wells Plastics’ line of oxo-biodegradable and degradable additive masterbatches and compounds, is one factor driving the increase in demand. OFI InfraVia’s first infrastructure fund, InfraVia, has completed the acquisition of a 55 per cent interest in ADTiM previously owned by ETDE, Axione and Eiffage. The remaining 45 per cent interests are held by Caisse des Dépots (30 per cent) and ETDE/Axione (15 per cent). Senior project financing debt has been has also been successfully raised from groupe Crédit Agricole to finance the acquisition. ADTiM is the owner and operator a fibre optic network operating under a 25-year concession with the departments of Drome and Ardeche. SR Labs, a provider of electronic-trading solutions for the global financial services industry, has completed a USD53m investment from Insight Venture Partners. SR Labs plans to use the capital to expand its sales and marketing operations, to accelerate its growth outside of North America, and to continue to fund product innovation. To further those goals, SR Labs has opened a new development centre in Pune, India, to support its customers in Asia Pacific and Europe, where systematic trading is growing rapidly. Private equity firm MidOcean Partners has acquired a majority equity position in Agilex Flavors & Fragrances, a creator and manufacturer of fragrances for use in consumer products.  Agilex was previously owned by Nautic Partners, a middle market private firm.  Headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey, Agilex was created by combining several unique fragrance houses with diverse strengths and capabilities. Agilex is a provider of fragrance compounds and delivery systems sold primarily to manufacturers of air care, personal care, industrial and institutional and household products. Merseyside-based Ultromex has secured GBP550,000 funding from The North West Fund for Energy & Environmental, managed by CT Investment Partners. Ultromex has developed processes for the recovery of high-value metals from electronic and industrial waste products. The company, which was founded by Jonathan Quinn and Harry Middleton in 2011, aims to increase turnover to GBP10m by 2016. The business works in partnership with global metal recycling and industrial businesses, helping them to recover high-value metals more efficiently while significantly lowering energy use and emissions. Behrman Capital, a private equity investment firm based in New York and San Francisco, has acquired Tresys Technology, a provider of cybersecurity products, services and solutions to government and commercial customers. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Based in Columbia, Maryland, Tresys offers services and products that address computer network defence, focusing primarily on platform security, assured information sharing and security engineering. Tresys has built its business at the intersection of Linux and information security, two of the fastest growing markets in the IT sector, and is a widely-recognised expert in Security Enhanced Linux.
