Horizon Care, a provider of specialist care and education to children with severe and complex needs, backed by NBGI Private Equity, has completed the acquisition of Educare Adolescent Services.
Educare, which is also based in the Midlands, works closely with local authority commissioners to deliver care and education to children aged between 11 and 18 in attractive, homely residences located near to their family’s origin.
Following the acquisition, Horizon Care comprises 34 homes and seven schools. The investment adds to Horizon Care’s existing services in Staffordshire, Greater Manchester and Kent, providing a presence in Shropshire and Leicestershire, as well as
The Abraaj Group, a private equity investor operating in global growth markets, has exited its investment in Vejthani, selling its stake to the South East Asian healthcare chain KPJ Healthcare.
This was the second successful exit in the last six months for the Abraaj in the rapidly expanding private healthcare sector.
The Abraaj Group has a portfolio of nine hospitals around the world, including in India, the Philippines, Kenya and Nigeria.

Munich-based venture capital firm Target Partners has made a EUR2m investment in Finanzchef24, Germany’s first financial services portal using a direct marketing model to target small businesses and self-employed individuals.
With its proprietary technology for comparing commercial insurance and banking products, Finanzchef24 has focused the launch around business liability insurance, business content insurance, and bank accounts for businesses, with more products to follow over the coming months.

Manufacturing is the leading sector for North West private equity deals over the past three years, accounting for 25 per cent of transactions, according to research by Equistone Partners in the North.
Since January 2010, the region has completed 62 deals in manufacturing with a total value of GBP952m, out of a total of 246 private equity deals worth GBP5bn.
Technology, media and telecoms (TMT), a growing sector in the North West economy, accounted for 18 per cent of all private equity transactions in the region, with 45 deals worth a combined GBP424m. By contrast, only five per cent of
Middle-market private equity firm Wynnchurch Capital has sold 4Front Engineered Solutions to Assa Abloy.
Headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, 4Front is a manufacturer of loading dock equipment.
4Front’s products consist of mechanical, air-powered and hydraulic dock levellers, seals and shelters, trailer safety restraints, energy efficient HVLS fans, specialty dock doors, material handling lifts, and aftermarket parts and accessories. 4Front’s premier brands include Kelley, LoadHog, Serco, TKO and APS Resource.

European private equity firm AXA Private Equity is to sell its holding in Phönix/Strack Group to the Curtiss-Wright Corporation for EUR82m.
Phönix/Strack specialises in the development and production of custom-built high-performance valves for major players in the energy, chemicals and refinery industries.
Final closure of the transaction is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
Phönix/Strack is based in Volkmarsen, near Kassel in central Germany, and has 282 employees.
AXA Private Equity took a majority holding in the business in 2010. Since then, Phönix/Strack has achieved double-digit growth and last year made revenues of approximately EUR50m.

Tongal plans to use the funding to accelerate the build-out of its community and to support plans for rapid expansion.

Private equity firm Behrman Capital’s portfolio company Pelican Products has acquired Minnesota Thermal Science (MTS), a provider of global temperature controlled transportation products.
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Based in Plymouth, Minnesota, MTS will become part of Pelican’s BioPharma division. Pelican now offers the most advanced temperature controlled packaging solutions available for the safe transport of pharmaceuticals, tissue, biologics, diagnostics, blood and other healthcare products.
In addition to Pelican BioPharma cases, which offer 140+ hours between 2.0 to 8.0C, customers will have access to the full suite of MTS products including the reusable Credo Cube, which
Intervale Capital, an energy-focused private equity firm, has made an equity investment in Aegis Chemical Solutions, an oilfield chemicals and water treatment business headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas.
Aegis provides oil and gas production chemicals and chlorine dioxide treatment services to customers in major oilfield markets, with a particular focus on the Permian Basin of West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico.
The transaction merges Aegis with Mid-Chem, a Midland, Texas-based production chemicals business, and positions Intervale as the majority owner of Aegis.
