Omnes Capital invests in Futuris

Omnes Capital – formerly Crédit Agricole Private Equity – has invested EUR4m in the Italian company Futuris via its Capenergie 2 fund. Additional investment of up to EUR10m is planned.

The Milan-based company – founded and developed by Rodolfo Danielli, former chief operating officer of Italcementi and EMEA director of Air Liquide – develops, builds and manages biomass-fired cogeneration plants.

Futuris SA aims to develop the equivalent of 54 MW of installed capacity between now and 2016, for a total investment of EUR220m. This development plan is based on the construction of 10 power stations within the framework of three stages. Three power stations are already in operation (stage one) and three other stations received the administrative authorisations (stage three).

This capital increase will enable the company to finance the stage two of its development plan.

“The involvement of Omnes Capital is a major step forward for Futuris SA,” says Rodolfo Danielli, chairman and chief executive officer of Futuris SA. “Omnes Capital is a well-known management company with a significant track record in renewable energies. In addition to its financial contribution, it will serve as a top-notch partner to work with us on our development projects.”

“We were attracted by the pro-active attitude of the people at Futuris SA, Rodolfo Danielli’s strategic vision and the high quality portfolio of projects developed by the company. We are pleased to be able to work with the company in carrying out its ambitious development plan,” says Serge Savasta (pictured), head of renewable energy at Omnes Capital.

This marks Capenergie 2’s 11th investment and strengthens its presence in the Italian market.
