Circularity Capital has continued to build its portfolio of European growth stage businesses enabling the circular economy, by leading a €19 million growth capital round in REBIKE. Be Biopharma (Be Bio), a specialist in the discovery and development of Engineered B Cell Medicines (BeCM), has closed a $130 million Series B financing round led by Arch Venture Partners. Bristol Myers Squibb and other new investors also particpated, alongside existing investors including Atlas Venture, RA Capital Management, Alta Partners, Longwood Fund and Takeda Ventures. The round brings the total investment in the Company to date to over $180 million.  The proceeds will advance Be Bio’s proprietary autologous and allogeneic BeCM platforms across multiple therapeutic areas and progress pipeline candidates toward the clinic.
Pembroke VCT, a venture capital trust focused on backing early-stage businesses with exceptional founders and management teams, has invested a further £2 million into OnePlan, a collaborative, real-time event management platform, as part of a £4.1 million investment round. Pembroke VCT first invested in OnePlan in June 2021 shortly after it had launched its ‘Venue Twin’ platform, creating the first ever multi-use digital twin that provides a hyper-realistic, real-time and interactive way to plan events and venues.  The £4.1m follow-on investment from existing investors Pembroke and Eppes Creek Ventures will contribute toward developing its technology, growing the sales and operations
NewSpring Mezzanine, NewSring’s dedicated mezzanine strategy, has invested in Mountain Temp Services (MTS) in partnership with Dawn Patrol Partners and Jackson Partners. MTS is a leading provider of temporary staffing specialising in light industrial services with 13 branches serving the Mountain West region.  NewSpring Mezzanine has invested subordinated debt and preferred equity to support the acquisition of MTS from previous shareholders in partnership with Dawn Patrol Partners and Jackson Partners. Britannia Life Sciences (Britannia) has secured a £5 million investment from alternative lender BOOST&Co to fund an additional 10% stake in ADSL, a provider of compliance, testing and analytical services within the cosmetics and household goods industry. This investment will see Britannia’s interest in ADSL grow to 70%.     Alongside the increased stake in ADSL, the investment marks a new stage of growth for Britannia, providing the organisation with a significant launchpad for future organic and acquisitive growth.
Vivaris Capital, a multi-strategy fund offering hybrid hedge and private equity structures, has agreed a strategic, joint-venture partnership with the Tesla Foundation to form Tesla Climate Capital. Tesla Climate Capital will commercialise leading technologies in vehicle electrification, energy storage, carbon sequestration, and power generation. It will also incubate aspiring global entrepreneurs active in the technology sector. Qualium Investissement (Qualium) is to acquire Recocash from IK Partners (IK). Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.   Since 1971, Recocash has been offering tailor-made debt-servicing solutions adapted to each customer environment, resulting in a high level of efficiency and customer satisfaction. Kpler, a provider of technology-led data, analytics, and market insight, has secured a strategic growth investment led by Five Arrows and Insight Partners with the two firms invest over $200 million to acquire a minority stake in the business. The investment is the first external fundraising initiative for Kpler, which has been bootstrapped since its foundation in 2014. In doubling its Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in the last 18 months and conducting two self-funded acquisitions (ClipperData & JBC Energy) since last September, the company has positioned itself as a leading firm in the next generation data & analytics space.
EMZ Partners (EMZ) has sold its shareholding in Hamburg-based spice manufacturer, Ankerkraut, to Swiss food conglomerate, Nestlé. The sale marks the debut exit of EMZ’s Munich office and returns well over 2.0x MoM in less than two years. The transaction is subject to antitrust clearance, while the parties have agreed not to disclose terms. EMZ invested into Ankerkraut in September 2020 alongside the founder and the management team. The company grew rapidly during EMZ’s holding period into one of the leading spice brands in the DACH region.
