Middle market private equity firm MidOcean Partners (MidOcean) has acquired Casper’s Ice Cream (Casper’s), a manufacturer and supplier of branded and co-packed frozen novelty products sold through leading grocery and mass customers throughout the United States. The Company primarily sells through the FatBoy brand, one of the fastest growing frozen novelty brands in the US, as well as the Jolly Llama and ChurnBaby brands.  MidOcean intends to accelerate the Company’s growth and drive value through comprehensive organic initiatives and strategic M&A. Highview Capital (Highview) has acquired Watterson, a national facility services company that provides a full suite of services, including facilities management, environmental services, and emergency and disaster response. Over the last 20-plus years, the Company has built a strong base of long-term corporate clients, which includes leading brands in retail and commercial workspaces. Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP), a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, has sold its portfolio company West Academic to BARBRI Global, a portfolio company of Francisco Partners. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The sale of West Academic, a publisher of casebooks, treatises, study aids and other legal education materials for law students based on the work of thousands of well-respected legal scholars, is LLCP’s sixth successful exit in the last year, following Best Lawyers, Caring Brands, FlexXray, Trinity Consultants and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
symplr, a specialist in enterprise healthcare operations including governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) SaaS solutions, backed by Clearlake Capital Group and Charlesbank Capital Partners, has agreed to acquire Midas Health Analytics Solutions (Midas) from Conduent Incorporated (Conduent).  The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.    Midas Health Analytics Solutions leverage a robust data warehouse with over 100 million claims and 30,000-plus indicators as well as comparative data from approximately 800 hospitals. StoreDot, a specialist in extreme fast charging (XFC) battery technology for electric vehicles, has held the first close of its Series D funding round of up to USD80 million, the majority of which has already been secured. The round is led by key strategic investors, strengthening StoreDot’s partnerships in the global automotive battery eco-system. The lead investor is the fast-growing flagship Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, VinFast, which plans to scale up manufacturing and deploy StoreDot’s Extreme Fast Charging in future EV architectures. O2 Investment Partners (O2) has sold its portfolio company, Mantis Innovation Group (Mantis) to Gemspring Capital (Gemspring). Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Mantis provides solutions to deliver better building performance and improved energy efficiency for its customers. The company relies on proprietary software tools to offer a full suite of services, including: energy procurement and demand management; solar, roofing, building envelope and pavement assessment and maintenance; and LED lighting, HVAC/mechanical and building automation systems design and implementation. New Water Capital, a lower-middle market private equity firm, has sold Emerald EMS (Emerald), a provider of high-mix, low-volume engineering, design, prototyping, testing, assembly and lifecycle support services for blue-chip original equipment manufacturers, to private equity firm Crestview Partners (Crestview). Emerald EMS increased earnings five-fold during the two years of New Water’s ownership. New Water’s initial investment in the Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) sector occurred in September 2019, through its initial simultaneous acquisition of Salem, New Hampshire-based DataED and Silicon Valley-based Bestronics, Inc. HIG Capital (HIG) has completed a growth investment in IT solutions provider General Datatech (GDT). GDT is a multi-vendor IT solutions provider (ITSP) with a services-driven approach serving blue chip enterprises and government agencies across the globe. Founded in 1996, the Company offers its customers comprehensive solutions, including professional services, managed services, and the design, architecture and resale of OEM hardware, software, and maintenance.
Script, a specialist in Enzymatic DNA Synthesis (EDS) for on-demand DNA printing, has completed its Series C financing, raising USD200 million of new capital. With this latest financing, DNA Script has raised USD315 million since the company was founded in 2014. Accounts and funds advised by T Rowe Price Associates and Baillie Gifford participated in the second tranche of the Series C, along with Healthcor Management, eureKARE, and Irving Investors. They joined Coatue Management, Catalio Capital Management, Fidelity Management & Research Company LLC, Columbia Threadneedle Investments, Casdin Capital, as well as other investors who participated in the first closing. Vietnam-based Anfin, a fintech firm with a proprietary stock trading platform, has raised USD1.2 million in a seed round led by Goodwater Capital and Global Founders Capital (GFC) – the latter coming in as a returning investor. Joining the round is a new investor, XA Network as well as First Check Ventures, another existing investor of Anfin’s. The fresh injection will be channelled into doubling down efforts to further develop Anfin’s platform to provide its retail investors real-time fractional share trading.   The investment comes at the heels of a recent agreement inked in December 2021 with Viet Tin Securities
