MidOcean Partners (MidOcean), a New York-based alternative asset manager specialising in middle-market private equity and alternative credit investments, has taken the next step to position the firm for long-term growth by partnering with Hunter Point Capital (HPC), which has made a strategic, minority investment in MidOcean.  MidOcean’s investment process, management, and day-to-day operations will remain unchanged. HIG Capital (HIG) portfolio company, United Flow Technologies (UFT), a platform established to invest in the municipal and industrial water and wastewater market, has completed the acquisitions of Tesco Controls (TESCO) and The Henry P. Thompson Company (HPT).  TESCO and HPT represent UFT’s second and third acquisitions, respectively, following its initial acquisition of MISCOwater in July 2021. As part of the transaction, HIG will partner with both TESCO and HPT’s leadership teams to support their growth initiatives within an integrated and operationally cohesive UFT. Startup investment bank for the emerging markets JPIN VCATS has completed a significant fundraise for Koovers, India’s largest B2B spare parts service based in Bengaluru.  Koovers announced raising USD1.5 million, with JPIN VCATS as one of the main investors. UK workplace pension scheme TPT Retirement Solutions is to invest GBP54 million into private equity through its defined contribution (DC) Master Trust default target date funds.   Members of TPT’s Target Date Funds, whose investments are managed by AllianceBernstein, will see 3.5 per cent of their pension pot allocated to private equity investments at the growth stage. The total percentage will decrease as members get closer to retirement age.   Research by AllianceBernstein shows that over the long-term, investment in private equity is likely to provide higher returns than public markets.
