DisplayLink, a specialist in the USB graphics market, has received USD8m in venture capital funding.
The series C venture capital round came from Atlas Venture, Balderton Capital (previously Benchmark Capital Europe), DAG Ventures, and DFJ Esprit.
The company has also appointed semiconductor industry veteran Craig Ensley as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors. Ensley was previously with Peregrine Semiconductor where he served as president, chief operating officer and board member. He brings to DisplayLink more than 30 years of leadership in marketing, engineering and management of both startup and public semiconductor and systems businesses.
“Craig brings an impressive track record of growing companies, boosting performance and driving corporate excellence. He’s the right leader at the right time to guide DisplayLink as we continue transforming how people connect and use their PCs, displays, and peripherals,” says Bruce Dunlevie (pictured), general partner at Benchmark Capital.
“DisplayLink’s wired and wireless USB virtual graphics technology has been gaining momentum in mainstream consumer electronics and corporate IT arenas and is available everywhere in universal docking stations, monitors, and thin clients. We’ll continue to innovate and expand our market position to ensure DisplayLink remains the connection technology that OEM customers and end users trust,” Ensley says. “I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity than to join DisplayLink’s tremendous combination of technology and talent.”
DisplayLink is a semiconductor and software company which enables virtual graphics connectivity between computers and displays over standard interfaces like USB, Wireless USB, and Ethernet.
