Dunedin Enterprise Investment Trust, the private equity investment trust managed by UK mid-market private equity house Dunedin, has appointed Federico Marescotti as a director.
Marescotti (pictured) has until recently been the executive chairman of Friulia Spa, Italy’s publicly controlled finance company. He sits on the board of AIFI, the Italian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, and is also on the board of a number of companies including Ecofin Water & Power Opportunities and JP Morgan Fleming Fledgeling European Companies. He is also chairman of Vela Capital and an international adviser to ADCO International.
Dunedin Enterprise Investment Trust specialises in the provision of equity finance for management buyouts, management buyins and growing businesses. The trust’s primary objective is to achieve substantial long-term growth in its assets through capital gains from its investments.
The trust invests in a portfolio of unquoted companies either directly, via private equity funds or via listed private equity companies. The trust’s direct investments are typically management buyouts and buyins in the UK with a value of GBP10m-GBP75m.
Brian Scouler, principal fund manager and director of Dunedin, says: ‘Federico has broad European experience and his appointment comes at an exciting time for Dunedin Enterprise, following the recent launch of our Fund Investment Programme in order to increase the exposure of Dunedin Enterprise Investment Trust to the European buyout market. Dunedin Enterprise is well positioned with a diverse portfolio of investments and significant cash resources. It has benefited from a strong flow of realisations over the past six years including Dunedin’s two most recent exits: the sales of Fernau Avionics and Gardner Group.’
