DWS private equity team leads financing to support Snapdragon’s investment in Nutraceutical

DWS Group’s private equity team has led a syndicate of large institutional limited partners, including Blackstone Strategic Partners and StepStone Group, among others, in facilitating Snapdragon Capital Partners’ and The Maze Group’s strategic investment in Nutraceutical International Corp.

Founded in 1993, Nutraceutical, majority owned by HGGC, is a vertically integrated manufacturer, marketer, and distributor of branded nutritional supplements, personal care, and other natural products sold primarily to and through domestic health and natural food stores. Internationally, Nutraceutical markets and distributes branded nutritional supplements and other natural products to and through health and natural product distributors and retailers.

“We are excited about our strategic investment in Nutraceutical and the firm’s business and growth trajectory, and are happy to have partnered with DWS’s private equity team and other investors on this deal,” says Mark Grabowski, founder of Snapdragon.

“We have known and worked with Mark in the past and believe Snapdragon offers a blend of investment expertise and hands-on experience building successful e-commerce brands. This will be amplified by the partnership with the Maze Group,” says Kumber Husain, Head of Private Equity for the Americas at DWS. “Snapdragon’s investment supports Nutraceutical’s strategic vision of acquiring, integrating and operating businesses in the natural products industry and will undoubtedly contribute to the firms continued growth as a multi-brand leader in the natural health and wellness industry.”

DWS’s global Private Equity group employs a hybrid buyout/secondaries strategy which is focused on enabling private equity firms to continue to back their best assets. Overall the private equity team manages over USD2 billion in commitments on behalf of mainly institutional investors globally.
