Elysian Capital hires operating partner

Elysian Capital, a private equity fund specialising in the UK lower mid-market, has hired James Cunningham as an operating partner.

He will work alongside the investment teams in sourcing, assessing and completing acquisitions, and also in advising and mentoring management teams in Elysian Capital’s investee companies.

His role will be to supplement the work of existing operating partner and Elysian chairman Chai Patel.

Cunningham has extensive industry experience, having worked at Bunzl from 1995 to 1999 and then again from 2002 to 2009, latterly as managing director, Bunzl UK and Ireland.

From 1999 to 2002, Cunningham was chief operating officer of EurotaxGlass’s Holdings and has previously worked at McKinsey and Unilever.

Patel says: “I am delighted that James has decided to join us. When we formed Elysian it was with the firm goal of creating a new type of private equity organisation that brought together real management operating ability to complement our existing strengths and experience in private equity investing.”
