Ernst & Young has appointed Robert Bruning as managing partner for the firm’s San Diego practice. He succeeds Mark Stephens, who will be retiring in June after 36 years of service to the firm.
Bruning has been an assurance professional and executive officer in the technology, manufacturing and consumer product industries for 25 years, starting his career at the firm in 1987. Between 1993 and 1998, he was the CFO of two publicly traded companies, Cobra Golf and Oakley. He returned to Ernst & Young in 1998.
“Robert brings more than two decades of experience to our San Diego practice, with a strong focus on mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, private placements and equity restructurings,” says Kay Matthews, Vice Chair and managing partner for Ernst & Young’s West area. “His proven track record of assisting public and multinational companies will be invaluable to our San Diego clients.”
"I am excited to build upon our practice’s history of IPO dominance, our high quality client service and our legacy of giving back to the community as our team meets the needs of America’s Finest City,” says Bruning,
who has lived in the San Diego area for the past 30 years. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of San Diego. A Certified Public Accountant, Bruning is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
