Private equity fund of funds manager Pantheon Ventures has strengthened its team in San Francisco with the appointment of Carol Foster as a principal in client services and Jeff Lumbard as a vice-president in marketing. The appointments follow the recent recruitment of three investment professionals for Pantheon’s Hong Kong office.

Foster was previously a managing director and chief financial officer at Calera Capital, where her responsibilities included managing existing limited partner relationships for the firm. Lumbard was a senior associate at Hamilton Lane Advisors responsible for marketing and client service for funds of private equity funds and separate accounts.

‘As we continue to expand as a business, it is more important than ever that we can respond effectively to growing client demand,’ says San Francisco-based managing partner Jay Pierrepont. ‘These latest high-calibre hires underline our ongoing commitment to providing a superior level of service to our clients around the world.’

Pantheon has been active in private equity since 1982 and is one of the world’s leading fund of private equity funds and secondaries managers, with USD24bn under management at the end of July and a team of 148, including 66 investment professionals, at its offices in London, San Francisco, New York and Hong Kong.

The firm develops and implements private equity investment strategies for more than 250 global institutional investors, with product and service offerings include regional funds of funds in the US, Europe and Asia, customised separate account programmes and global secondary funds.

It also manages Pantheon International Participations, the world’s first quoted fund of private equity funds, launched in 1987 and listed on the London Stock Exchange. Pantheon is part of Russell Investments, which had more than USD210bn in assets under management at the end of June.
