MEDIAN, a portfolio company of Waterland Private Equity Investments since 2011 and Germany’s largest private operator of rehabilitation clinics, is acquiring the two clinics run by Kliniken Wied GmbH & Co in Wied and Steimel, in the region between Bonn and Koblenz.
The company is specialised in providing residential rehabilitation for addicts since 1974, a field that is one of MEDIAN’s main specialities. Kliniken Wied provides more than 210 hospital beds, managed by 166 employees. QuadSAT, a drone-enabled antenna testing company, has closed its GBP700,000 seed round, led by the Danish Growth Fund, VF with participation from Seraphim Capital and existing investors.
The investment will enable QuadSAT to bring its innovative drone platform to the satellite communications industry, initially focusing on maritime and aeronautical applications. QuadSAT’s platform uses drone technology to test and calibrate satellite and VSAT antennas autonomously, mimicking an orbiting satellite that can simulate a ship or aircraft’s motion. This method enables highly accurate testing while drastically reducing downtime.

Seldon, the machine learning deployment specialist, has closed a GBP2.7m seed funding round led by Amadeus Capital Partners alongside Global Brain Corporation, Techstars and other existing investors.

Bain Capital Private Equity is to acquire a majority stake in Brillio, a global digital technology consulting and solutions company, to further scale its digital transformation offerings.
Brillio will continue to be led by the current management team, headed by Chief Executive Officer Raj Mamodia. Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.

Warren Equity Partners Manager (WEP) has held the final close of its private equity investment fund, Warren Equity Partners Fund II, and Warren Equity Partners Fund II-A (collectively WEP II) at its USD310 million hard cap.
WEP II held its first close in March 2018 and concluded marketing to new investors in September 2018. The final close of WEP II was held in December 2018. The oversubscribed fund includes commitments from a diverse group of new and returning investors including university endowments, pension funds, fund of funds, private foundations and family offices.

AVORA, an enterprise analytics platform powered by native machine learning technology, has raised USD6.5m (GBP5.1m) in a Series A funding round led by Albion VC and existing investor Crane.
A number of previous backers also followed on including Dr Steve Garnett, former Chairman EMEA Salesforce.com, and Stephen Kelly.
AVORA has already built an impressive client base, including Telefonica, OMD, NPR, HBO LatAm and Ocado. NTR has added a portfolio of just over 200 MW of operational and pre-construction onshore wind projects in Sweden and Finland to its NTR Renewable Energy Income Fund II.
The portfolio comprises three operational projects totalling 94 MW and one advanced stage development cluster totalling 108 MW potential capacity in southern Sweden. Total capital investment, including the build out of the development cluster, is expected to be in excess of EUR180 million. NTR acquired the portfolio projects, called Vindin, from a consortium of nine Swedish industrial companies.
