Verifone Systems, a specialist in payment and commerce solutions, has been acquired by an investor group led by Francisco Partners, a leading technology-focused private equity firm, and including British Columbia Investment Management Corporation.
The acquisition was previously announced on 9 April 9 2018. With the transaction completed, Mike Pulli becomes Verifone’s new CEO.

Avedon Capital Partners and Management have sold CycloMedia, an international provider of accurate geospatial imagery-data and data analytics to Volpi Capital, a European growth investor, based in London, UK.
Both Management and Avedon are pleased with this transaction which confirms the value creation strategy that was actively pursued in partnership.

Through its IDEAS Managed Fund, African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) has acquired stakes in nine new solar and wind power plants in South Africa.
When all nine power facilities are fully operational, which is expected to be at the end of 2020, they will provide an additional 800 MW of renewable energy capacity into South Africa’s national power grid. The power facilities will deliver about 2 425 GWh annually, preventing around 2.4 million tonnes of carbon emissions from traditional fossil fuel power plants per annum. BGF has successfully exited its investment into Leicester-headquartered MPK Garages, an independent operator of fuel forecourts under the Texaco and Gulf brands.
The company has been acquired by Stratford Retail Group as part of its strategy to build a group of fuel and retail forecourts in the UK.
BGF initially invested GBP7 million alongside a further GBP7 million from HSBC in March 2016 to support the expansion of MPK’s portfolio and to refresh seven sites within the existing estate. Financial Information Technologies (Fintech), a provider of invoicing, electronic payment and analytics solutions to the beverage alcohol industry, has secured a strategic investment from TA Associates and Luminate Capital Partners, building on the initial 2016 investment by Luminate.
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Fintech is partnering with TA and Luminate to enhance its leadership role in the beverage alcohol market through new product innovations and strategic acquisitions. ARQIS has advised on the sale of Brainloop, a supplier of virtual data room software used within enterprises for high-security collaboration on confidential documents, as in the case of Supervisory Board communication, to Diligent Corporation (Diligent).
Diligent is a provider of enterprise governance management solutions and secure board collaboration solutions. The purchase price has not been disclosed.

UK-listed fintech venture capital investor Augmentum Fintech has announced GBP7 million of new investments in three leading European fintech companies – Tide, Previse and DueDil.
Augmentum has invested a GBP3 million convertible note as part of a GBP8 million funding round alongside existing investors, in Tide, an SME challenger bank. The new funds are being raised as the company prepares for rapid expansion and develops more features on its platform to ease the administrative burden faced by small businesses. Existing investors participating in the investment include Anthemis, Creandum, Local Globe and Passion Capital.

Express Vending is a privately-owned, fast-growing UK supplier of premium vending services. The business generated sales of more than GBP39.0 million in the twelve months ending July 2018. Founded in 1992, Express Vending is focused on London and the neighbouring counties. It is recognised for the high quality of its service and product offering, achieving strong customer retention.

VividGro, a portfolio company of private equity firm Pegasus Capital Advisors (Pegasus), has secured investment firm Merida Capital Partners (Merida) as its strategic partner.
VividGro, a spinout from Pegasus-funded Lighting Science Group Corporation (LSG), offers products based on LSG’s origins in developing lighting for NASA and the International Space Station and currently focuses on distributing controlled environment agriculture (CEA) LED lighting solutions and services to the indoor horticultural and cannabis industries.
The Company will initially be funded by investments from LSG and Merida Capital. Merida Managing Partner Mitchell Baruchowitz will join the VividGro Board and work with VividGro CEO
