Ascend Capital Partners has made an investment of over EUR24 million in four early stage Finnish technology companies. This investment round is part of Ascend’s major investment in European markets and follows its previous investing success in the auto sector in Luxembourg.
Ascend is in the midst of negotiating additional investments with Finnish and German technology companies which it plans to complete before the end of the year.

EagleTree Capital (EagleTree), on behalf of its private equity fund EagleTree Partners IV, has acquired a majority stake in WaterFleet, a specialist in mobile water and wastewater treatment solutions, from several existing shareholders, including founders Alan R Pyle and Allison C Pyle.
As part of the transaction, the existing shareholders will retain a significant minority stake in WaterFleet, and the entire management team, including both founders, will continue to lead the Company. Co-investors, including Stars Investment Management Co., are also investing alongside EagleTree. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed

Envisagenics, a biotechnology company that applies Artificial Intelligence to the genetic sequence of patients to discover new therapies, has raised USD2.35 million in a seed funding round.
The investors include Third Kind Venture Capital (3KVC), Cosine, LLC (NYC biotech investors), Dolby Family Ventures, Dynamk Capital, NY Empire State Development (ESD), and SV Angel.
Envisagenics’ proprietary discovery platform, SpliceCoreTM, can identify new ribonucleic acid (RNA) targets and design new drugs to correct RNA splicing errors in cancer and genetic diseases. Healthcare-focused Venture capital firm Flare Capital Partners has made an investment in VisitPay, the provider of a technology solution used by major US healthcare systems with total net patient revenue of USD30 billion.
Gary Gottlieb, an Executive Partner at Flare Capital and former CEO at Partners HealthCare, commented: “As the consumer share of payments skyrockets, VisitPay provides a uniquely patient and provider centred solution to engagement and billing.”

LBO France has acquired Bexley, a French specialty retailer of men’s high quality footwear. The founding manager, Eric Botton, will keep a minority interest in the Company.
Founded in 1985, Bexley rapidly established itself as one of the most successful French retailers of men’s footwear positioned in the affordable luxury segment and offering excellent quality-price ratio. Anchorage Capital Partners (Anchorage) has held the closing of its third institutional fund, Anchorage Capital Partners Fund III (ACP III) at AUD350 million, approximately three months after initial launch.
ACP III was considerably oversubscribed, with demand exceeding the fundraising target, attributable to continued strong support from existing investors combined with significant interest of new investors.
Anchorage maintained the strong local market support evidenced in prior fundraising, with over 40 per cent of Fund commitments sourced from Australian institutions. The UK continues to be one of the world’s most attractive destinations for infrastructure investment, according to the CMS Infrastructure Index: ‘A new direction’, which this year ranks 40 jurisdictions in order of infrastructure investment attractiveness according to six key criteria.

Fortino Capital Partners has created a second fund, Fortino Capital II Growth, with EUR200 million dedicated for investments in scale-ups and growth companies in the Benelux. Commitments worth EUR125 million have already been secured with the first closing having taken place.
