United Ventures SGR, an independent Italian Venture Capital manager, has launched its second fund, UV2, having held its first closing at EUR75 million, higher than the total capitalisation of the firm’s first fund launched in 2013.
“UV2” aims to raise up to Euro 120 million during 2018 and its Anchor Investors will include leading institutional investors such as Fondo Italiano d’Investimento, the European Investment Fund, Banca Mediolanum, Banca Sella Holding and Fondazione di Sardegna.

Elsen, a Platform-as-a-Service company for large financial institutions, has raised USD2.4 million in a seed extension round led by Hyperplane Venture Capital with participation from Accomplice, Launch Capital and hand-picked angel investors from the startup and financial community.
As part of the investment, Hyperplane managing partner, Jack Klinck (pictured), who previously spent nearly two decades in executive roles at State Street and BNY Mellon, will join the company’s board of directors as Chairman.

Foresight Group has launched the FP Foresight UK Infrastructure Income Fund, an FCA-approved, actively managed fund that will invest in UK listed renewable energy and infrastructure fund/investment company equities and bonds.
It will target an annual income of 5 per cent per annum with dividends paid quarterly.
Available on a variety of platforms and wraps, the Fund has a minimum investment of GBP1,000, or GBP100 per month for regular savings, and comprises one share class for both retail and institutional investors with the option for either income or accumulation.

EnCap Investments, a provider of capital to the independent sector of the US oil and gas industry with offices in Houston and Dallas, has closed EnCap Energy Capital Fund XI with capital commitments of USD7.0 billion, exceeding its target.
Fund XI provides growth capital to proven management teams focused on the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry in North America.

Align Capital Partners (ACP) has acquired workplace safety and training company Lewellyn Technology from Evolution Capital Partners (Evolution).
This is ACP ’s first platform investment from the business-to-business training and certification thesis ACP launched earlier this year.

Blue Water Energy has held the final closing of Blue Water Energy Fund II (BWE Fund II), with total commitments over USD1.1 billion, surpassing its target of USD1 billion after securing further commitments from a number of new limited partners.
Blue Water Energy, founded in 2011 by Jerker Johansson, Tom Sikorski and Graeme Sword, closed its inaugural Fund I in May 2013 with USD862 million of commitments and now has a portfolio of eleven companies in this fund. Tikehau Capital is to sell its stake in the real-estate promoter Nafilyan & Partners in three stages to the Belgian property developer Immobel.
Tikehau Capital invested a total of approximately EUR8.9 million (including EUR7.7 million in bonds and EUR1.2 million in capital) in Nafilyan & Partners between July 2014 and May 2016 and currently owns a 15 per cent stake in the company before capital increase.

Chinese business accelerator COMB+ and the Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation (BICI) have launched a new Artificial Intelligence Fund with a target size of EUR65 million. The fund will focus on international technology startups entering the Chinese market.
The fund is part of the COMB+ Sino Track accelerator program, which was launched a year ago. Already 19 Nordic startups have participated in the program, which is now expanding globally.
The pitching competition at the event included 10 finalists; the jury selected children’s franchise Dibidogs as the winner, opening a shortcut to the Sino Track program.
