Hobs Group has secured a further GBP4 million investment from BGF to continue the expansion of its 3D printing, reprographics, facilities management and legal support services businesses in the UK. This brings BGF’s total investment in Hobs to more than GBP11 million.
The Liverpool-headquartered group has experienced growth across each of its businesses – Hobs Studio, Hobs Repro, Hobs On-Site and Anexsys – since partnering with BGF in 2014.
Hobs Studio – which offers state-of-the-art 3D printing, terrestrial scanning and digital visualisations for architectural, engineering, construction and product designers – operates from London, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow. A larger
Funds managed by Inflexion Private Equity have completed the buyout of Virgin Experience Days, the UK’s leading experiences business.
Virgin Experience Days offers curated experiences to consumers and corporates, from flying Spitfires to short luxury breaks, selling over 750,000 experiences annually. A high-growth business, revenue has doubled to GBP50 million in three years, driven by a seamless tech-enabled customer experience and the ongoing consumer shift to sharing experiences over tangible goods. Virgin Experience Days operates B2C and B2B divisions. Virgin Incentives, the B2B division, offers experience days for employee rewards and recognition programmes, with clients such as Barclaycard and Samsung.
Data analytics company Peak has secured GBP2.5 million in Series A funding in a round led by London-based Venture Capital firm, MMC Ventures. Peak’s data analytics-as-a-service model helps companies of all sizes use data, machine learning and AI technologies to drive growth.
This latest funding round comes just over a year after Peak secured seed investment led by Manchester-based Praetura Capital. These funds were used to commercialise Peak’s data analytics-as-a-service offering and to expand its operations; growing the internal team and opening development centres in both Manchester, UK, and Jaipur, India.

Sn-ap, an on-demand intercity coach travel service has raised GBP2m in equity funding led by early stage VC fund Kindred Capital.
The investment, which is supported by a number of private investors from the travel and finance sectors, will be used to expand its current service into new parts of the UK.

Petsky Prunier has advised Allconnect, a technology-enabled sales and marketing solutions company that partners with utility and energy companies to help customers in more than 50 million households compare and purchase home services, on its sale to Red Ventures, a digital consumer choice platform.
Allconnect was a portfolio company of Covestco and Maveron, among other investors.

Genstar Capital has partnered with existing management to acquire Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS), from Vestar Capital Partners for USD720 million.
The transaction is expected to close by early fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions. ISS will continue to operate independently once the transaction is completed and the current ISS executive leadership team will remain in place.

Noerr has advised the US group HB Fuller, a manufacturer of industrial adhesives, on the strategic acquisition of competitor Royal Adhesives & Sealants in a USD1.58 billion deal.
The seller is the private equity company American Securities LLC.
The acquisition promotes HB Fuller’s continued focus on technical adhesives and other highly specialised market segments. Once the transaction is completed, combined revenue will be around USD2.9 billion. HB Fuller alone had 2016 revenue of approximately USD2.1 billion.

Private equity firm Vance Street Capital has partnered with management to acquire RST Instruments (RST), a provider of complex geotechnical instrumentation and data systems, from Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Company.
Founded in 1977 and headquartered in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, RST designs and manufactures highly-engineered geotechnical instrumentation and data systems for applications where structural integrity must be assured. End use applications for RST’s products include critical structures such as bridges, hydroelectric dams, mines, railroads, airports, tailings dams, tunnels and highways.
