A company backed by Permira funds is to sell Netafim, a specialist in smart drip and micro-irrigation solutions for sustainable agriculture and other applications, to Mexichem, in an all-cash transaction worth USD1.895 billion.  Mexichem will acquire 80 per cent of Netafim while Kibbutz Hatzerim, the founder, will retain the remaining 20 per cent.   Torsten Vogt (pictured), partner at Permira and Co-Head of Industrials, says: “The Permira funds’ investment in Netafim fits squarely within one of our Industrial Team’s key focus areas – the food value chain – where for more than a decade the funds have successfully invested in
BGF Quoted has provided GBP7 million in funding to AIM-listed Netcall, a provider of technology solutions that help businesses better engage with their customers, to support Netcall’s acquisition of Beringea-backed MatsSoft Limited, a cloud-based software provider. The investment was transacted via BGF’s most recently opened regional office in Milton Keynes.   Headquartered in Hemel Hempstead, Netcall has more than 700 customers in the private and public sector including NHS Acute Health Trusts, BT, Lloyds Banking Group, Axa and Interflora. The company’s product suite incorporates omni-channel contact centre, workforce optimisation and business process management, delivered through its integrated platform, Liberty.  
Private equity group Bridgepoint is to acquire Miller Homes, one of the UK’s largest housebuilders, in a deal worth GBP655 million from funds managed by GSO Capital Partners. Established in 1934 and the largest privately-owned housebuilder in the UK, Miller Homes has a strong regional footprint through three divisions (Midlands & South, North, and Scotland) and a reputation for delivering quality, family homes in desirable and high demand locations. The company focuses on sustainable developments on the edge of urban or suburban areas, typically within 45 minutes of the nearest largest town or city and is recognised for providing outstanding
The Rohatyn Group (TRG), a specialised asset management firm focused on emerging markets, is to acquire GMO Renewable Resources (GMORR); a joint venture between global investment management firm Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co (GMO), and GMORR’s principals, investing in forestry and agriculture opportunities. Under the agreement, the team from GMORR is expected to move, intact, to TRG. GMO, which currently owns 51 per cent of the GMORR joint venture, with the GMORR principals owning 49 per cent, will retain its investments in funds managed by GMORR.   Founded in 1997, GMORR provides investment opportunities in forestry and agriculture investing.
The Meloy Fund I, LP (the “Fund”), a new impact investment fund dedicated to helping coastal fishers transition to more sustainable practices, has launched with a first close of USD10 million. The Fund targets USD20 million of debt and equity investment in support of the millions of small-scale fishers in Indonesia and the Philippines, who rely upon healthy coastal fisheries and marine ecosystems for their livelihoods. The ten-year Fund counts among its investors a diverse range of family offices, investment managers, and foundations. Noerr has advised Fosun and its joint venture Nanjing Nangang Iron & Steel United Co Ltd on a strategic acquisition in Germany of automotive supplier Koller. The Koller Group, headquartered in the Bavarian town of Dietfurt an der Altmühl, is a leading manufacturer of lightweight automotive parts in international markets and owns production facilities in Germany, Hungary and Mexico.   The Noerr team led by Frankfurt-based partners Till Kosche and Andrea Zwarg managed the transaction internationally as lead counsel, also involving Noerrs’ Hungary office.
Private equity firm Stirling Square Capital Partners has acquired DOCU Nordic Group Holdings AB, a provider of business intelligence and data analytics services; essential in the generation of sales leads within the construction, real estate and healthcare markets across the Nordic region. Headquartered in Ljusdal, Sweden, the company is active in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.   DOCU Nordic’s core business is Project & Product Information services, which provides intelligence for construction market participants and connects materials suppliers and contractors with developers and advisers (such as architects). TOM Vehicle Rental (TOM), a business-to-business flexible vehicle hire provider backed by Equistone Partners Europe (Equistone), has acquired Transflex Vehicle Rental (Transflex) for an undisclosed sum. The deal sees Transflex’s 3,500 cars and light commercial vehicles, four depots, and 80 employees join the larger TOM business, with Peter Abdale (Managing Director), Gary Henry (Sales Director), Nick Skillman (Operations Director), and Tina Lynas (Finance Director) from Transflex all joining the TOM executive management team. Associated Capital Group (AC) is to launch Gabelli Private Equity Partners (GPEP), a new private equity investment management business focused on leveraged buyouts and restructuring of small and mid-sized companies. GPEP will be funded with up to USD150 million of the Company’s capital.   “GPEP is a logical extension of Gabelli’s investment platform based on our 40 year history of valuing companies on a private market value basis.
